Is it possible to homeschool and work full time

Based on the day public school calendar, two working parents can design a schedule that allows sharing of subjects and instructional time. In addition, parents can supplement their own teaching time by hiring tutors for individual subjects. Many homeschooling families also belong to co-ops that schedule group learning or special instruction activities one or more days per week. Co-ops also provide the opportunity for homeschool students to go to classes and activities outside the home.

Online learning options are ideal for making homeschooling feasible for a two-career home. In addition to providing self-paced learning in an engaging and motivating format, online curriculum enables students to be independent learners. Students in middle school and high school can self-direct much of their learning using internet-based courseware. Ensure you get family movie nights with blankets and popcorn, or walks in the woods, or days to the beach, and date nights. Homeschooling can be intense and so is working full time, and doing both is only sustainable if you plan quality time for self care and relationship maintenance.

Use mornings and evenings creatively! There are lots of very special and unique memories to be made when you get out and about when everyone else is tucked up asleep, so look at homeschooling while working full time as an opportunity to grab these opportunities with both hands!

Get a planner. My goodness, you need a planner. Outsource everything else you possibly can. Want a cleaner? Get one, if you afford it. Get one of those subscription boxes where all your meals are planned out for you and you just chuck it in a pan, or get some ready meals, or do some meal prep. Hire someone to wash your hair. Growing up I wanted to go to law school and planned to send my kids to private school. On the days my husband had off, I found it best to schedule that as one of our off days as it was distracting for my kids since they wanted to spend time with their dad. He has been at his job for close to 30 years. I also own my own MLM business and sell a product that I love. Due to our incredibly short-staffed, rural department, several of us are working lots of OT overtime. I also had to accept that sometimes electronic babysitting is ok for us. I need to sleep sometimes and the kids will enter zombie land and not get into trouble if they play a game while I nap.

On the nights when I work, I typically do schoolwork with the kids when I get home in the morning. When I go to sleep, the older two have online course material to do while my husband cleans up or entertains the toddler. On one day off, we do co-OP and on my days off, I teach, go to the library, do field trips, etc. My husband is not involved in the educational process at all. To make time to teach, we had to come to an understanding on housework.

It came down to telling my husband that I needed him to take on a lot more tasks such as cooking and cleaning in order to allow me the time to teach.

We do sit down together lessons before and after work and on Friday-Saturday. My schedule has pros and cons. I can plan events, travel, etc on my known days off and swap time with other shifts to accommodate field-trips or the life.

This is our first year and we landed on lifepac. We are covering the basics math, science, history, and language arts. This is good for now since we both can manage it. As I mentioned earlier, having a routine or schedule is key to being a work at home mom.

I use a combination of both but I was interested to see what other working moms use. As such, my school calendar is year-round and we utilize weekends that are rainy for school-work.
